Artist's notes
The story of the male weaver bird fascinates me. They have to race against time to get their intricate constructions of green reeds ready to impress a female before the nest turns brown. If that should happen, she won't be interested and will move on. In this painting, to emphasize the enormity of his task, I made his newly finished nest brown. It did feel a bit mean at the time, but supports the quote pretty well! Frameable area 16 1/2" X 11" Price $990 USD |
